Abstract
This chapter explores how emerging technologies and digital storytelling can transform biological sciences education in Africa. Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, it promotes culturally grounded, multimodal teaching that integrates Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) with 21st-century skills. Storytelling is positioned as a powerful pedagogical tool that enhances critical thinking, cultural identity, and inclusion through frameworks such as Constructivist Learning Theory, Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, and Multiliteracies Theory. Practical strategies include podcasting, digital story mapping, video storytelling, and collaborative storybooks, supported by AR/VR, smartphone apps, and AI tools. Despite challenges like limited infrastructure and teacher training, the chapter proposes solutions such as capacity-building workshops, curriculum reform, and open educational resources. It advocates embedding narrative technologies in teacher education to empower learners and decolonize education by affirming local voices and perspectives.
