Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak is a global public health challenge that poses a threat to
psychological resilience, risking stress, tension, worry, fear, panic, trauma, anxiety and depression as a result of
protracted periods of lockdown, restrictions and closures of industries and educational institutions. The aim of
this study was to assess the levels of stress in the general public in South Africa during the COVID-19 lockdown
period and to evaluate the association of gender and age with perceived stress.
